Character Information
Name: Calliope Jones
House: Trenton Corporation (Dracul background)
Birthplace: Rural Alberta
Birthdate: Sometime in September, 1981
Age: 15
Gender: Female

Physical Details
Hair Color: Originally white, dyes it pink
Eye Color: Pinkish-red
Height: 4'10"
Body Type: O-
Appearance Notes: Calliope is a small girl, seeming more like an elementary school kid than a teenager, that appears to be suffering some kind of albinism given her strange eye colour and pale skin. Due to bad eyesight she wears glasses with thick lenses that seem too heavy for her nose; they constantly slip down her face. She dresses in uniform-like clothes, very standard and not very interesting, but usually wears a big, fluffy pink wool cardigan overtop that she just swims in, worn regardless of season.
Her hair is short and fluffy and also very pink. Originally it was white, but she felt she'd rather look strange on purpose than by nature and keeping her hair pink is one of the only things in her life she's diligent about.
She has a bracelet with a small knife-like charm on it that she's had since she was put into foster care. She often has her fingers bandaged up, sometimes her palms and wrists as well, due to accidental and purposeful cutting (for magic, not because of a desire to cut herself).
Calliope likes to make herself small and will often do things like crouch on chairs instead of sitting in them properly or keep her arms wrapped around herself when standing still, mostly done to conserve heat. She often looks tired and can be found sleeping in random places from time to time. She always keeps some chocolate on her to help keep her blood sugar levels in check.

Life Details
Background: She was found one fall day, abandoned near a dairy farm, when she was little more than a toddler. Her eerie appearance- white skin, white hair, reddish eyes- caused those that found her to be disconcerted, suspicious of strange things. Family services and the police were called and a search was put out for the parents. They were never found. On her person was a small, knife-like charm on a bracelet and a note with shaky, heavy handwriting. We cannot look after this child anymore. Her name is Calliope. We're sorry.
She cried and cried, and only calmed down when a well-meaning police officer picked her up, and she bit into his wrist, so deeply she drew blood. Although he tried to drop her, at first in surprise and then in disgust, she hung on and sucked on the wound. Everyone's unease grew.
It was like a Men in Black situation that led her to the Trenton Corporation; local newspapers and tabloids picked up the short-lived story of the vampire child found in a wheat field (an error, but no one really cared for clear details) and only a short period of time passed before she was moved from a frightened foster house to her new abode at Trenton. It was all very sketchy, but silence was vowed and papers were signed and the child was taken over the border to start a new life.
Tests were done to figure out her proclivity for blood. The mages figured it must have been some strange combination of a magical and a biological mutation, albinism and a likely background of the Dracul bloodline, given all of the Hungarian immigrants living in the vicinity of the Prairies. They managed to introduce her to proper food, but could not completely wean her from ingesting blood, although it did not seem to be related to any early manifested powers.
As she grew, her energy levels seemed to fluctuate depending on the amount of blood she drank. Keeping at small but regular doses made for the best outcome as a child, but when her powers did begin to manifest, it threw the careful balance she and her mentors had achieved into chaos. Imbuing proved to be her strongest gift- imbuing her own blood with magic, she was able to create solid, usable objects. It was determined that was what the bracelet had been for- to "activate" her magic, meaning that this had been some strange blood magic use for at least a generation.
Given magic required her to use her own blood, her health became unsteady until again they found a balance for expending blood and energy and ingesting blood and food to keep her from hurting herself. While earlier efforts had made sure she was a spritely, energetic child, any expending of her power caused her to be lethargic without a timely dose of blood to replace what she'd lost.
Being limited in resources, they decided to send her off to Paracelsus in the hopes of giving her a better chance of learning to use her power in other, less taxing ways. And it's there that she's started to learn about a fun little trick called "invoking".
House Politics: Having been at Trenton for so long, Calliope is at the very least loyal to them. Surrounding politics of the other Houses she's only familiar with by word of mouth, and therefore has little to say on them. She considers herself outside of House issues.
Personality: Calliope seems a little vague at first, usually due to being tired and anemic, but in reality she's curious and soaks up information like a sponge and loves to ask questions. She has a tendency to follow people around like a lost puppy and becomes attached to others quickly.
Hugs are a thing.
She's hesitant to involve herself in physical activity and puts a lot of thought into anything that requires her imbuing and burgeoning invoking skills, which means she does a lot more research than necessary.
She loves video games and cartoons and kids' shows, especially things like Power Rangers and that one with the moon princess with the cat and the dude in a tuxedo? Sometimes she likes to imagine herself as a magical girl. Which she kind of is, right? In reality, she likes these kinds of characters so much because she can relate to them so well. And hey, no one would abandon a hero, right?
While she's careful about how she expends her energy, actually being hurt doesn't bother her. She's got a fairly high pain tolerance and doesn't even flinch when she needs to cut a finger or nick a vein to get her blood flowing. What does bother her is being cold, which she is a lot of the time, which explains the constant wearing of the pink sweater. (Also, the sweater is like a hug!)
She's insecure about her looks, but rather than outright shrink because of it takes to emphasizing it in strange ways, like by embracing her love of the colour pink.
One thing she's discovered a love for is drawing. Not nature or anything of the like, but magic circles, mandalas, pentagrams, ever since she began to look deeper into invoking. She likes getting into the zone and spending time making perfect circles and symbols.

Flaws: Calliope believes too much in her own weakness. All her life people have been looking out for her health, and so she thinks herself to be more fragile than she actually is and bases her limitations off of that belief, making her a little neurotic at times.
While she knows everyone is different and strange in their own way, she thinks herself to be even more different and strange than others, and in her own mind seperates herself from whatever population she's a part of at the time.
While it seems she may be too trusting at times, the truth is that there's an everpresent fear that she will be abandoned again. Her answer to this is to therefore keep people close and do little to question them personally, even if she has doubts or knows they're wrong. (Or bite them. She learned that one quickly.)

Magic and Skill Details
Magic and Skills:
Imbuing: She was never able to put her magic outside of herself except by extending her body somehow- this was accomplished by imbuing her own blood with magic to create objects. However, this drains her more physically than it does magically and the larger the item, the more it takes. Common sense. Items also do not permanently keep their shape, meaning that she's gotten quite used to mopping up blood puddles. They are malleable according to her will, however, and can be made larger, but the blood cannot be returned once it's been taken out of her body. Experiments have been made with creating weaponry, which is useful, but due to her physical limitations not very practical in the long run.
Given she was found with the little knife-like charm, it can be assumed this form of magic had been practiced in her family for at least a generation or two. A shame no one actually taught her more about it before giving her up.
It's handy when she's forgotten her pen in class, though.

Invoking: Luckily, there are plenty of creatures out there that also have uses for her blood. Introductory classes and personal research have brought her to the magical school of invocation. While Castillos have the biggest claim on this school, magic circles and pentagrams in blood have a long tradition of calling forth spirits from beyond. Preliminary experiments have proven she has some talent in the area, particularly in creating the actual circles.

Writing/Editing: She loves to write! Writing is great! But she's also one of those people that loves to go over other peoples' writing and mark everything up. Maybe she'll work for a newspaper someday? Or become a book editor? Oh, that'd be great! She likes that idea! She has a million notebooks full of everything from terrible poems to short stories to fanfiction (!) to research to half-asleep dream notes.
